FoodPrint: Sweet Handkraft

My first semester of medical school is officially over. I'm 1/8 an MD now, but it still doesn't feel real — I barely know what happened in the past 4 months. All I remember is that I studied almost all the time. The final week was brutal. We had 5 final exams over 5 days, and perhaps that gave me and my fellow med student friends a reason to indulge in a little sweet treat. After taking the last final, we went to Sweet Handkraft for some comfort.

Sweet Handkraft is a cute little spot in Metairie. Since we were new to this place, we were overwhelmed by how many options they offer in such a tiny space. On the menu, we saw cookies, drinks, coffee, toast, waffles, and even more. The server was patient enough to give us some recommendations. We all ended up getting different things. I chose the Vietnamese coffee-flavored ice cream. It wasn't super sweet or sugary, which I loved. Another thing I liked about Sweet Handkraft is their interior design. The dining sets were a cream white, and they even had a Christmas tree up. It's such a perfect place for pictures.

My trip to Sweet Handkraft eased the pain from the final week and the entire semester in general. Going to a sweet shop after a tough time has become a tradition for me. Well, I'm sure I’ll visit this little spot again soon. :)
